A Plague at Parihaka.
Haweka, March 9,
Contagious disease is reported as prevailing at Parihaka, and that 60 deaths occurred within a few days. It is stated that persons attacked linger only three days.
Surveyors’ Institute. Wellington, April 9. A meeting of surveyors and engineers was held last night in connection with the formation of a New Zealand Institute of Surveyors and Civil Engineers. The report of the, acting secretary was read. It referred to the advantages which the Institution would confer on the profession. The meeting was adjourned to afford time for procuring information in connection with the subject.

At a meeting of the Committee of the Clutha Agricultural and Pastoral Society last night it was agreed to contribute £2O towards the preliminary expenses of the Dunedin Frozen Meat Association.
