CHRISTCHURCH CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
At the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court yesterday, the following prisoners were convicted and sentenced: —Daniel James Phillips, illegally pawnins,imprisonment with hard labour for one day; Maurice Fitzpatrick, larceny; six months’ imprisonment with hard labour; Edward Longmore,larceny from dwelling,l2 months’ imprisonment; George Douglas, larceny, penal servitude for three years; Edward Wells, larceny, imprisonment with hard labour for six mouth; Henry Jackson, malicious injury to machinery, imprisonment with hard labour for nine months. There now remain only five prisoners to be tried, of whom one is to be tried on Wednesday and another on Thursday. The other three will be put upon their trial to-day. THIS DAY. ing at John Spring with intent to murder received 10 j T ears penal servitude. The prisoner on leaving the dock remarked that before he had been three years in custodj' they would see the downfall of the Crown of England.
