Wheat is Coming forward freely, and although large quantities are travelling by rail to Lyttelton, Christchurch and Dunedin, while a moderate, proportion is being shipped, the stores continue to be taxed to their utmost and scores of tons are exposed to the weather. Oat* are in fair demand, but farmers are holding back In expectation of a rapid improvement in prices. Good milling samples have been sold at Is 4d to Is sd, and a parcel of very superior quality suitable for seed fetched Is s£d. Barley continues te be offered but at present meets with no demand, the market in this line being fairly glutted. We quote :—Wheat—3s 3d to 3s 4d. Oats—milling and seed Is 4d to Is 5Jd ; feed, Is 3d. Grass seed—(farmers samples), 3s 9d. DUNEDIN MAEKETS. Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the Hew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited) reports for the week ending March 30, as follows : Pat Cattle.—The supply at Burnside today was only moderate, 187 head having been yarded; demand, however, was very slack, and last week’s advance more than lost. Fat bullocks realised from £5 10b to £lO 7s 6d, and cows £3 2s 6d to £6 10s per head. We quote for best beef 20s per 1001 b. Pat Calves.—Only 5 were offered, which sold at from 4s 6d to 28s each, Pat Sheep.—l4lo head were penned, only 20 of which were merinos, the remainder being mostly fair to prime crossbreds. The supply being below the average, last market rates were well supported, and in some cases improved upon. Cross-breds realised from 9s to 13s 6d, and the pen of merinos 9s 9d per head. Fat Lambs—s2 realised from 8s 3d to 9s 7d per head. Pat Pigs—B3 were offered, which fetched from 5s 6d to 47s each. Store Sheep.—The demand continues Very brisk for all descriptions of store sheep, and far exceeds the supply at present offering. Oats, Is 5d to Is 7d per bushel; milling wheat, 3s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel; fowls’ feed, 2s to 3s ; barley, malting, 2s 6d to 3s 61 ; feed, Is 9d to 2s 6d per bushel; hay, £3 per ton ; chaff, £2 15s per ton ; straw, £2 per ton ; bran, £3 per ton ; pollard, £4 per ton ; flour, £9 10s to £lO per ton ; oatmeal, £9 per ton; butter, fresh, 6d to 8d ; salt, 6d to 8d ; eggs, Is 9d; bacon in rolls, 8d ; side, Bid ; hams, 10|d ; fresh pork, 4£d per lb; potatoes, £2 15s to £3 per ton. DUNEDIN SHAEE MAEKBT. Mr J. B. Bradshaw reports :—Bank of New Zealand shares, £22 ; National Bank, 65s ,* Colonial Bank, 45s ; New Zealand Insurance, 73s ; National Insurance, 28s 6d ; Union Insurance, 21s; South British Insurance, 56s ; Colonial Insurance, 12s 3d ; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, 107 s 6d to 110 s ; New Zealand Shipping, 100 s; Union Steamship, £ll ; Mosgiel Woolen Factory, 755. LONDON SEED MAEKET. Messrs John Shaw and Sons, of Mark Lane, London, E. 0., report through their agent, Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the, seed trade for the fortnight ending February 11 showed an improved demand for farm seeds, considerable quantities having changed hands at fhll rates. Choice samples of red clover continue in short supply. There was more enquiry for white clover and alsyke. Trefoil kept quiet. Canary in fair request at previous rates. From the Board of Trade returns just published it appears that tne Imports of clover and grass seeds into the United Kingdom, in January were 29,893 cwts. against 40,727 cwts for the same month in 1880. Adelaide, March 11. Wheat is quoted at 4s to 4s 6d, with no business doing; town flour, £lO 6s to £lO 10s; country flour, £9 7s 6d. Freights to London; Steamer, 455; ditto, sailing, 42s 6d; freight to United Kingdom from Adelaide, 42s 6d to 455; ditto from outports, 45s to 47s 6d.
