[Reutee’s Agency.] The Torpedo Explosion. Melbourne, March 17, A Board, consisting of Mr Bosisto, Professor Ellery, and Messrs McGowan Newberry, and Phelan, has been appointed by the Goverment to enquire into and report on the Cerberus torpedo explosion. Railway Extension. Sydney, March. 17. In the Legislative Assembly to-day the Hon. John Lackey, Minister for Public Works, introduced his Public Works Statement, in the course of which he announced that it was proposed to undertake the construction of several additional lines of railway in the colony, involving an expenditure of £8,750,000. The debate on the proposal was opened, but was adjourned till Tuesday next. Aquatic. A sculling match for £IOO a side took place to-day on the Clarence River,near Grafton, between Rush and Pearce,two well-known oarsmen, and resulted in a victory for the former.
