[Per “Times” Special Wire/] A Pawnbroker Punished. Wellington, March 15. At the Magistrates’ Court to-day, M. Hyams for breach of the Pawnbroker’s Act, by failing to enter the amount of interest to be charged on an article pledged, was fined £5 and costs. Presentation. Wanganui, March 11. F. Jackson, hon secretary to the Jockey Club was presented last night with a set of silver side dishes valued at £2OO. Compliments and champagne were shed freely. His Excellency in Barracootaland. Dunedin, March 15. The Governor accompanied by the Mayor visited the public institution to-day. At 3.45 he received an address from the corporation, and afterwards held a levee at the Town Hall. Another Illumination. The Railway Hotel at Lawrence was burnt down yesterday. The building was insured in the New Zealand office for £SOO, and the stock in the National for £3OO.
