LICENSING COURT
TIMAEU—THIS DAY. [Before E. BeethamEsq , (Chairman), T. W. Hall, H. Belfield, and E. Elworthy, Esqs., Licensing Commissioners.] The Licensing Bench held an adjourned sitting this morning. It will be remembered that at the last sitting of the Court, Mr Warne applied to have the temporary transfer of the Eailway Hotel, Pleasant Point, from Thomas Connon to himself confirmed. The Bench refused the application, on the ground that Mrs Hope was virtually the licensee of the house, but they afterwards consented to adjourn the case for 14 days in order to allow Mrs Hope dispose of the hotel, remarking that they would otherwise positively decline to grant the transfer.
Mr Jameson this morning informed the Bench that Mrs Hope had arranged to dispose of the business to aMr Hales, but that there had not been, time to get the title &c., completed, and in the meantime, he (Mr Jameson) would ask that the transfer of the license should be confirmed to Warne pending the completion of the purchase of the house by Hales. The Bench asked whether the arrangement indicated was a bona fide one, and were assured by Mr Jameson that it was. The application was then granted. st Patrick’s day, Messrs Thompson, Point Hotel, and Poff, Makikihi Hotel, applied for leave to keep their houses open to a later hour than usual on St Patrick’s night. Both applications were granted. The Court then adjourned.
