Melbourne, March 5. The third day’s races of the Victorian Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting took place to-day, at Flemington. Newmarket Handicap. —A sweepstake of 10 sovs each, 10ft, or 5 if declared, with 300 added. For three-year-olds and upwards. The winner of the Australian Cup to carry 71b extra. • The second horse to receive 50 sovs. and the third 20 sovs out of the stake. Three quarters of a mile. Mr J. Wbittingham’s Aspen ... 1 Waterford 2 Mr J. M’Phail’s Terrific ... ... 3 Twenty-seven horses started for this event, and it was u very pretty race. Aspen won easily, in Imin Town Plate. —A sweepstake of 15 sovs eacii, h ft, with 500 added. For three-year-ohls and upwards. Weight for age. The winner of any race (not being a handicap) of the value of 200 sovs to carry 31b extra ; of 500 sovs, 7lboxtra;of 1100 sovs,* 101 b extra. Penalties not accumulative, Maidens allowed 31b.
