Nelson, March 4. Nelson Citizens’ and Brewers’ Prizes Match, 200, 400, 500 yards. Seven shots at each distance. All members.
First prize—A. Ballinger, Wellington, 77; second—Waddell, Nelson, 76 ; third —Eogers, Blenheim, 76 ; fourth —Weir, Thames, 75 ; fifth — Downie, Thames, 75 ; sixth—E. Maddock, Blenheim, 75. THIS DAY. The weather continues beautiful ; a dead calm but very hot. The ninth and tenth matches, which decide the respective championships, are proceeding slowly, tfce men being squadded so that those with the highest aggregate will not fire at the final stages until late in
afternoon, when a large attendance of visitors from town is expected to witness the conclusion.
Armstrong (Thames) is the carbine champion. Payntcr is still leading for the rifle champion.
