FIJI NEWS.

SECOND EDITION

By Telegraph,

Auckland. Feb. 26

The Southern Gross has arrived from Levuka. Details of the gale show that previous reports of the damage were greatly exaggerated. The steamers Goahead and Phoenix were sunk alongside the wharf but have since been raised. The schooner Tasman was wrecked alongside the wharf and several others were stranded. The damage ashore is not serious. With the exception of the unroofing of Judge Gaine s house, the injuries were confined to damage to verandahs. The celebrated chief Manfa is dead.
