[By Telegraph.] [Per Wakatipu at Wellington.] London, Feb. 10. The remains of the late Thomas Carlyle have been interred at his native village, Ecclefechan, in Dumfrieshire. Feb. 11. The Queen and the Prince of Wales intend permitting their pictures, now on view at the Melbourne Exhibition, to be exhibited in Adelaide during the proposed South Australian Exhibition. Feb. 12. Further diplomatic revelations have been made in connection with Russian designs in central Asia in 187 G. The correspondence shows that Russia was prepared to divide central Asia with England on certain conditions. The Basutos have been effectually subdued, and are now appealing for an armistice.
