First Day. 1 p.m. — Trial Stakes of 50 sovs, for horses that have not won 200 sovs in one event, or two events, each of the value of 100 sovs or upwards, up to the time of starting. Entrance, 2 sovs. Maidens at starting allowed—for three-year-oids, 31bs; four years, 71bs; five years and upwards, lOlbs. Weight for age. Distance, about 1J miles. 1.-15 p.m. — Sires’ Produce Stakes, of 80 sovs; distance, 6 furlongs. Colts, Bst lOlbs; fillies, Bst Jibs. Starters to pay a sweep of 5 sovs to go to the second horse. 2.30 i’.m. — Timaru Cur, a handicap of 200 sovs, with a sweepstake of 5 sovs for acceptors ; amount accruing from the sweep to go to the second horse; nomination, 2 sovs; acceptance, 4 sovs ; distance, 1|- miles. 3.45 p.ji. — Flying Handicap, of 50 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov; distance of a mile, ■1.30 p.m. — Selling Hack Race, of 50 sovs, presented by M. Jonas, Esq., 30 sovs to go to the first horse and 20 sovs to the second horse, both first and second horses to be sold and the entire proceeds to go to the race fund; distance* 14 miles; no weight under 9st; entrance, 1 sov. Post entries. SECOND DAY. 1 p.m.—S. C. Jockey Club Handicap, of 100 sots., with a sweepstake of 5 sovs. for acceptors ; amount accruing from the sweepstake to go to second horse ; nomination, 2 sovs,; acceptance, 2 sovs. ; distance, 14 miles. The winner of the Timaru Cun to carry 71 bs penalty. 1.45 p.m.—Handicap Bubble Race, of 80 sovs. ; distance about 24 miles j over 8 Rights of hurdles ; nomination, 1 sov. : acceptance, 2 sovs. ; second horse to receive £lO out of the stakes, 3 p,ar.—Selling Hack Hurdle Race,of 20 sovs. ; distance, 14 miles ; no weight under 10»t. The winner to he sold by auction, any surplus over 20 sovs. to go to the fund. I’ost entry, 1 sov. 3.45 p.m—Winter Oats Handicap, of 50 sovs ; distance, 1| miles : nomina; tion,l sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs. Weight to be declared after B.C,J.C. Handicap; acceptances after the Hurdle Race. 430 p.m.—Consolation Handicap, of 30 sovs : post entry, 1 sov ; distance, 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for the Timaru Cup, Flying Handicap, S.C.J.C. Handicap, Hurdle Race, and Winter Oats Handicap to be made to the .Secretary not later than Friday, March 18, at 8 p.ra. Weights to be out on Tliuroday, April 21. Acceptances, with sweep and general entries, up to 8 p.ra. on Monday', April 25. No entry will be received for any of the races except upon this condition—that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing, shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decisions upon all points connected with the carrycarrying out of this programme shall be final. All entries and acceptances must be in sealed covers, addressed to the Secretary, Grosvcnor Hotel, Timaru, and contain entrance money, sweepstakes, qualification fee, description, age, and name of horse, and colors to bo worn by r the jockey. Qualification fee to be enclosed with the nomination, or the nomination will he invalid. South Canterbury Jockey' Club Rules will bo strictly' adhered to. In Hurdle races horses to qualify by jumping hurdle past judge’s box. No peuson <o enter a horse unless he is a subscriber of £2 2s to the fund, and no person to nominate unless both owner and nominator be subscribers of the same amount. In the event of any person entering a protest, the sum of £2 2s must be lodged with the Secretary before such protest is considered, this sum to be forfeited to the funds should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. Five percent will be deducted from the gross of all moneys paid in accordance with the programme, for expenses ; and when not otherwise specified, all entries and acceptances to go to the funds. E.
