Fat Cattle—Supply in excess of demand; prime beef, 20s per lOOlbs ; fat sheep in ful supply, piime mutton, 2J per lb. Wheat—Sales of good milling are reported at 3s 9d, but there is no disposition to purchase, buyers waiting for samples of the new crop. Oats —Sales of feed at Is 4sd to Is fid, demand quiet; no enquiry for milling. Barley—Nothing doing.
MELBOURNE PRODUCE MARKET. The N.Z.L. and M.A. Company, under date Feb. 2, report as follows: — Our usual weekly sale to-day brought a crowded attendance together and brisk competition *as elicited. Wc submitted catalogue of 5000 bags, and succeeded in clearing nearly the whole of the lots, the principal withdrawals being again barley, which is still weak, in fact none but prime samples meet with attention. Any parcels at all mixed with Cape or those which are disc do ed, small in tire grain and pinched, are neglected, and only command feeding prices. Malting was sold to-day up to 8s 7sd, but the sample was a very prime one. Wheat we sold up to 4s Id, which was the top price of the day. Our quotations are:— Flour is moving off in trade parcels at £8 17s fid.
Wh at.—This is about a halfpenny lower than our last week’s quotations. Ordinary to good realised from 8s 4d to 8s lOd, superior from 8s lid to 4s and 4s o£d., and prime up 4s Id per bushel. Barley.—This is weak; ordinary feeding realised from 2s Id to 2s 4d and 2s fid, malting from 8s to 8s 74d. Oats are about the same as when last reported. Feeding has been selling up to 2s 4d, stout up to 2s fid, and milling up to 2s 'Jd.
