HERR BANDMANN IN DUNEDIN.

Herr Bandmann took a benefit at tfie Queen’s Theatre on Friday night, and made a speech from which we extract the following : —“ My heart is full of thanks and gratitude for the kind manner in w’hich you have treated me. Believe me, ladies and gentlemen, what I say is sincere. There is no blarney about it. In fact I should not like to be so near that stone at present. I speak sincerely. My thanks —my grateful thanks—are due to you for the excellent manner in which you have treated roe from the moment I put my foot on the stage in Dunedin. I have travelled all over the world, but I cannot mention a single town where I have been received with more enthusiastic kindness than in Dunedin. I have travelled in Italy, Switzerland, and other countries, but I have seen nowhere grandeur so beautiful as I have seen around, your enlightened, heorty, and full souled town. Igo out of this town with honor and money, and I have every reason to be satisfied. And now ladies and gentlemen, it is always hard to say farewell ; but I am not going to say farewell yet, I hope you ■ will not treat me like Artemus Ward was treated in a certain place in America, When he made a speech, the audience rose and said, “God bless you Artemus and don’t come back.” (Laughter.) I have the blessing in anticipation, for I shall decidedly come back.”
