Wellington, Feb. 5. The cricket match, Australians v. Wellington started this morning. The weather is dull with a great southerly breeze. Wellington won the toss, and elected to go in. Kennedy and Brown were the first to handle the willow to the trundling of Spoft'orth and Palmer, the former taking the first over, off which three was scored. When Brown had scored seven he drove the ball back to Spofforth, which was accepted. 1—7—15. Speed filled the vacancy. Kennedy was given out l.b.w. At the adjournment for lunch the score stood at 43, the highest not out being Blacklock 9 ; Salmon 8 ; Brown 7.
