First Day. 1. p.m.—Trial Stakes of 50 sovs, for horses that have not won 200 sovs in one event, or two events, each of the value of 100 sovs or upwards, up to the time of starting. Entrance, 2 sovs. Maidens-at starting allowed—for three-year-olds, Bibs; four years, 71bs; live years and upwards, lOlbs. Weight for age. Distance, about, miles. - 1.45 p.m. — Sires’ Produce Stakes, of 80 sovs; distance, 0 furlongs, Colts, Bst lOlbs; fillies, Bst olbs. Starters to pay a sweep of 5 sovs to go to the second horse. ; 2.30 p.m.-tTimaru Cup, a handicap of 200 sovs, with a sweepstake of 5 sovs for acceptors; amount accruing from the sweep to go to the second horse; nomination,, 2 sovs; acceptance, 4 sovs ; distance, 1| miles. • 3.45 p.m. — Flying Handicap, of 50 sovs; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov; distance £ of a mile, 4.30 p.m. — SellinO Hack Race, of 50 sovs, presented by M. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for the Timaru Cup, Flying Handicap, S.C.J.C. Handicap, Hurdle Race, and Winter Oats Handicap to made to the Secretary nob later than Fri* day, March 18, at 8 p.m. Weights to be out on Thursday, April 21. Acceptances, with sweep and general entries, up to 8 p.m.on Monday, April 25. No entry will be received for any of the races except upon this condition—that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing, shall bo decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decisions upon all points connected with the canycarrying out of this programme shall .be final. ' '.'wroul All entries and acceptances must be in sealed covers, addressed to the Secretary, Grosvenor Hotel, Timaru, and contain entrance money, sweepstakes, qualification fee, description, age, and name of horse, land colors to be worn by the jockey, j Qualification fee to be enclosed with the nomination,. or the nomination will bo .invalid. South Canterbury Jockey Club Rules will :be strictly adhered to. : In Hurdle races horses to qualify by ■jumping hurdle past judge's box. 1 No person to enter a horse unless he is a 'subscriber of £2 2s to the fund, and no •person to nominate unless both owner and nominator, be subscribers of the same 'amount. ! In the event of any person entering a protest, the sum of £2 2s must be lodged with the Secretary before such protest is considered, this sum to be forfeited to the funds should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious.
