LATE CAPE NEWS.
[By Telegeaph.j (Per Ringarooma at the Bluff.) Cape Town, Dec. 2. The native outbreak still continues. The Colony has now in the field nearly 18,000 men, of which number about one-half are native allies, the others being mostly volunteers, burghers, and Cape riflemen of European descent. Colonel Wavells secured a victory over the Tembus. His forces killed some 500 rebels, besides capturing a largo number of live stock at Teribe. Our forces met with a slight disaster, eleven of our men being cut off and killed by the enemy, altogether it is impossible to predict the duration of the war.
The volunteers claim to be relieved after three months service in the field. On the 16th inst Colonel Wavells made a further capture of 1400 cattle and 600 sheep from the Tembus and also killed 10 Tembus.
In Basutoland Colonel Carrington had a sharp engagement with a largo body Basuto rebels. He repulsed them.
The Transvaal Boers have elected Kruger vice-president of the Yolksraad, and Joubert commandant. General matters there are very disturbed.
