Extra accommodation is badly wanted at the Hospital in the shape of a room or rooms adapted for the temporary reception of the insane. In a late case which occurred, the authority's at the Hospital were seriously inconvenienced. One of the patients exhibited symptoms of insanity, and alarmed by his outcries the other patients, Brouzht up before the Timsru Bench the presiding magistrates did not know what to do with the unfortunate lunatic and being informed positirely by J)r Chilton that he was unable to look after the man at the hospital for even a couple of days (pending his further examination by the doctors) the Bench were compelled to send the unhappy mau to gaol. This is not as it should be, and the sooner that the ncces-ary addition is made to the Hospital the better. Messrß Jones and Peters have again proved themselves the successful tenderers for the extension of the Breakwater. . Out of seven tenders received to-day their tender for the next 180 feet of the structure was accepted. The amount for which the contract (which includes apron blocks) has been let is £5807 2s. The winning numbers in Mr James Strachan-'s Art Union will be fpundin,our advertising columns. ; " Tenders are invited for tying and stooking grain at the Washdyke. All the sittings in the Congregational Church will be ready for letting, at 7.30 this evening, and will be booked according to priortyof application.
