MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Oflice Timaru, fbr the following places (subject to tire necessary alterations) as under : Friday, Dec, 31. For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, America, West Indies, Africa, Ac, via San Francisco, and the Sandwich Islands, as folio vs : Money orders at 4 p.m. Registered letters at 5 p.m. Letters, books, -and newspapers, at 10 p.m. Late fee letters bearing one additional rate, per letter, may he posted at the Railway travelling Post Office mail van (Northern Express Train) till 3.20. The above mails will he due at San Francisco on Jan. 27, and London on Feb. 15, 1831. Saturday, Jan 1. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Arawata at 0 a.m. Saturday. Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day) being a Post Oflice holiday, all Post Offices in the postal district of Timaru will be closed on that day. Local mails usually despatched on Saturdays, will be closed on Friday, the 81st inst. at 8 p.m The Chief Post Office, Timaru, will be open to the public on Friday evening, from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m., for the delivery of letters from the delivery departments, also those usually delivered by the letter carriers (Signed) W.
