[Pee “Times” Special Wire.l Railway Accident. Auckland, Dec. 28. *"* The other night a train passed through, of which no notice had been given. The gate on the railway bridge was smashed and carried away by the cowcatcher Tramway Traffic. Christchurch, Dec. 28. Over 12,000 persons were carried on the tramways yesterday without accident. Juvenile Thieves. Four boys, under 14, received various sentences in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for larceny. Besides imprisonment three are also to receive 12 lashes each. The Christmas Holidays in Dunedin. Dunedin, Dec. 28. The steamer excursions were largely patronised yesterday. Three hundred people attended the Hibernian fete. “ Pinafore ” drew a tremendous house at the Theatre in the evening ; hundreds were unable to obtain admittance. The circus bad five thousand visitors.
