MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Tost Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Wednesday, Dec 22. For Australian Colonies, per Tararua, at 4 p.m. . Thursday, Doc 23. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, New South Wales, and Queensland, pir Jlotoniahana, at 6 a.in. Saturday, Dec. 25. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Penguin, at 2.50 p.m. Monday, Dec 31. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec 25 (Christmas Day) being a Post Office holiday, Post Offices in the postal district of Timaru will be closed on that day. Local mars usually despatched on Saturday will be closed on Friday, Dec 23, at 8 p.m The Chief Post Ollice, Timaru will be open to the public on Friday evening from 8.30 to 0.30 p.m for the delivery of letters from the delivery department, also those usully delivered by the letter carriers. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco, will close at the Chief Post Ollice, Timaru, on Friday, Dec. 31, and will be due in London, on Jan. 15, 1881.
