CRICKET.
The following private telegram received to-day has been handed to us for publication—:
The Aastralians sail on the eleventh and play on 20th and 27th of January.”
We hope that this means that the Australians intend to play a two-days match, in which case they nuy rely on a good gate as everyone is anxious to see them play after their wonderful performances at Home. We hear that a tirst-rate commit tee has been formed for carrying out arrangements for the match, and that our local plavors are going in for regular practice, in which case an interesting game may be looked forward to, and although we cannot perhaps expect to score a victory over such formidable opponents, yet we feel sure that if in practice our representatives ought to acquaint themselves with credit.
