Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past fortnight as follows : Horses—Their entries at their yards on Saturdays have been considerably over the average, between thirty and forty animals having passed under the hammer both weeks. We have sold first-class draughts at from £35 to £39; medium, £22 to £2B; light .harnessfrom £l6 to .£2O; good hacks, at from £lB to £22; light and inferior, £8 to £l2. Cattle.—At Winchester, op Wednesday week, they sold over 40 head from various owners at from £3 2s 6d to £3 17s 6d for mixed cattle, £4 10s for 2-year-olds, cows at £5 to £6, and yearlings at £2 7s 6d. At the yards last Thursday they entered 95 head, all of which, with a very few exceptions, found buyers at fair rates, viz., from £4 ss, £5 2s 6d, and £6 for well grown steers and heifers, £3 5s for. 18 month old steers and heifers, £3 12s 6d for good year‘ings, and £2 to £2 7s 6d for calves. Sheep—The market for store sheep is very active, with a short supply, especially of cross-breds. They quote from 6s 6d to 7s for cross-bred ewe wethers, and 5s 6d to Cs for merino wethers. They have placed 1000 cross-breds and 1000 merino wethers privately at good figures. Property—Part of the late Mr Landsborough’s property, situate about 2J miles from town, containing 92 acres land, all in English grass, was sold to John Reid, Esq., at £l2 per acre. Mr K. F. Gray reports the following sales : Sheep—2Bo fat cross-bred wethers, 9s 6d ; 493 cross-bred ewes and lambs, 11s (id; 300 store cross-breds, 7s 6d ; 40 do, 6s 9d. Fat sheep, to IJd. Cattle—He sold at Winchester Fair, on Wednesday, December 1, 29 head stores, £5 15s. Messrs William Collins and Co. report y holding their sale by auction and market bn Saturday last. The attendance was large, and bidding spirited for all lines submitted during the day. The following are the actuil prices for the lines quitted : Potatoes, 30s per ton ; fowls’ wheat 3s 6d to 6s per sack ; oats Is 3d per bushel; onions, 3d per lb ; hams and bacon, 7d to 9d ; fowls’ 3s 6d to 4s per pair ; turkeys 16s per pair, supply not equal to demand ; butter, 3d to 4d per lb ; cheese, 5d to 6d per lb ; honey, 3Jd per lb; eggs Is per dozen ; flour, £lO per ton; bran, 70s per ton; sharps 755. Large quantities of tea, sugar, soap, household effects, drapery, and sundries were moved off at cqnsignors’ instructions.
