The Porte has addressed a circular note to the Powers, calling upon them to restrain Greece from proceeding with an increase of her armaments, and to ask her if she will accept the compromise proposed in October last, namely, that territory to the south of Janina and Larissa should be ceded, but not those towns themselves. The latest telegram from Allahabad reports that all feverish symptoms have now left the Marquis of Ripon, but he remains in a very weak condition. Close of the Wool sales. London, Dec. 11. The wool auction was closed to-day, 1190 bales being offered, amounting to a total of 114,100 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale showed a better demand for most descriptions. There was a good attendance of home buyers, but the number of foreign buyers was small. There was a fair competition for inferior and common qualities. Cross-breds Id to 2d lower than last sales.
