S. C. Times Office. Saturday Evening. .'Mr Moss Jonas reports that a large amount of business 1 as been done during the past week. Cattle—At the yards on Thursday he sold milch cows from £5 to £G 10s; spring heifers, from £1 15s to £5 15s, and £6; steers, from £3 15s to £4 12s Gd, according to age and condition. Privately he has sold—Fat bullocks, £7 to £8 4s; milch cows, up to £7 ICs; stores, £4 to £5. Sheep—Stores in active demand. He has sold a mob of 4500 merino ewes and wethers at 4s, 2000 merino ewes at 8s 3d (culls), and 1200 wethers at 4 s 4d. Fat cross-breds in small mobs he has sold at from 8s to 9s 3d, the latter price being obtained for a mob of 300 in very good condition. Fat lambs, 5s 6d to Bs. Pigs—Enquiries made daily for stores and porKcrs, but very few offering. Horses—At last Saturday’s sale a few good draughts were sold at frem £24 to £37 10s. Hacks—Several were entered, but sales were effected of three only at £9 10s, £ll, and £lB 10s. Produce—Milling oats realise Is sd; fowls’ corn, Is to Os Os per sack ; cheese, 5d to 0d; bacon, 5d to 7d ; butter, Id to sd. Properties—The Southerndown property belonging to Mr H. J. Hcaly was submitted on Monday, but owing to lack of speculative spiiit only*two allotments were sold, viz;— Lot 20, 1 acre, to Mr F. W. Marchant, for £125, and lot 27, 1J acres, to Mr W. Pavidson, for £2OO. The stone quarry in Woolicombe’s Gully, belonging to the same gentleman was sold privately before the date of sale to Mr S. H. Kirby at £550 cash. As the quarry contains but three acres of land this must be considered a very satisfactory price. Christchurch, Dec. 11. Only a moderate amount of business has been carried through during the week. "Wheat of good quality finds ready buyers at 4s 3d, but the quantity offering is exceedingly trilling. Flour meets a fair trade inquiry at £ll for town brands, and £lO 10s for country. Oats move slowly at Is Od for milling and Is 3d for feed. The Melbourne market appears a shade better than it was, but not good enough to permit of any business at remunerative rates. Barley of really good quality is saleable at 3s Gd, and medium to inferior at 2s Gd to Is 9d. • Butter has been in slightly better emand, and several large parcels arc reported to have been sold at 6d fm.b. Cheese is neglected at 3id to 4d. Hams and bacon continue in good demand at low rates. Dunedin, Dec. 10.
