A BRUTAL LETTER.

Referring to the murder of Lord Mountmorris in Ireland, a home paper says : —“ Lady Mountmorris is still at Ebor Hall, but has received no visitors since the death of her husband. She is much broken down in health. She will not reside at Ebor Hall during the winter, but will leave in a few days for England. Ebor Hall will be closed up save that a guard of police will bo left in charge of it. The unfortunate lady has been obliged to get the police to fell trees to supply her with fuel, as none of the people in the locality would sell it to her, and she has received a threatening letter of a diabolical character. The production is one of the most shocking that can bo conceived, containing threats upon her life and the vilest language. It bears the Liverpool post mark, but is believed to have been written by someone in the district. This brutal letter is the return Lady Mountmorris received for the most generous kindness to the public. Lady Mountmorris has received from the Queen a letter of inquiry and sympathy consequent on the murder of her bus band. A valuation has been made of the effects of the late Lord Mountmorris, and the result is stated to have been announced at less than £350, including stock, furniture, and everything of which he was possessed. The large reward offered has not, up to the present induced auy one to come forward with information respecting the deceased nobleman’s murder.”
