[Reuter’s Agency.] Political Complications. Melbourne, Dec. 9. In the Legislative Assembly Dr. L. L. Smith, member for Richmond, has proposed a vote of want of confidence in the present Ministry. All sections of the House disclaim having been consulted in the matter. Sir Bryan O’Loghlen has crossed over to the Opposition corner. Last night the Estimates were again dealt with. On the educational vote being proposed Sir John O’Shannassy made a strong attack on the education, system, and opposed the passage of the vote. Mr Murray Smith also spoke on the question, and favored (he appointment of a Roj'al Commission to inquire into means for the redress of the grievances of the Roman Catholics under the present system of instruction. Wot Scratched for the Present. It is announced that the services of Colonel Scratchlcy are to be retained by the Victorian Government for another year. The Wext Conference. The Queensland and Tasmanian Governments have agreed to send delegates to the Intercolonial Conference when it meets again in Sydney in January. A Tough Premier. Brisbane, Dec. 9. The leader of the Opposition party proceeds immediately to England, it is understood, with a political object in view, in connection with the accusations lately made against the Hon. Thomas Mcllwraith, the Premier.
