GOLD AT STEWARTS’ ISLAND.
SECOND EDITION
[By Telegraph.] [from our own coerespondent.] Bluff, Dec. 2. A cutter which arrived from Stewards Island this morning, reports the discovery of a gold-bearing quartz reef, running from Port William to Paterson’s Inlet. The specimens show gold clearly. Several cutlers were chartered specially to convey Residents to Itiverton, yesterday’ to obtain miners’ rights. The prospectors quietly obtained a grant of land, a week ago, and have pegged off most of the supposed line of reef.
