COLE’S CIRCUS.

SECOND EDITION

Cole’s American Circus, and Menagerie, will remain in Timaru for one day only, viz., on Saturday Dec. IS, when two performances will ho given. The organization consists of circus, menagerie, aquarium, and a congress of living wonders, The cost of transit from San Francisco to New Zealand alone will exceed 520.000 or £-5.000 sterling. A troupe of six performing stallions will all he seen in the ring at once, and every position, act, or movement depicted on the show will he accomplished. The electric light, is used to illuminate the exhibition tents, which contain nearly a million yards of canvas. The zoological wonders consist of dons of performing African lions, leopards, tigers, hyenas, sea lions, snakes and reptiles, elephants, camel, and two-horned black rhinoceros. Not loss than eight bare-hack riders will enter the arena, and the appearance of Mdlle. Lind deal, the only living female hurdle rider who dashes through hoops of lire, is considered the sensation par excellence. A troupe of aerial bicycle riders will perform upon a single strand of wire suspended some fifty foot high above the ground. Those are only a few of the many features. One of tne greatest novelties is a troupe of American Indians consisting of chief, squaw, and warriors, who will appear in their native costumes of buckskin and gorgeous decorations of paint and feathers. They will also exhibit many relies of the tribe to which they belong, and give a series of exhibitions, illustrating the somewhat weird rites of Humming and festival occasions.
