At the magistrate’s Court Adam Leitet and William Ellison, alias Thompson, were charged with burglariously entering Murray Roberts and Go’s warehouse, and stealing a quantity of rum. They were committed for trial. The Nelson Mayoralty. • Nki.sox, Nov. 21. Mr T. Harley, who is a candidate for the Mayorship of Nelson, addressed a crowded and enthusiastic meeting in the Provincial Hall last evening, receiving a vote of coulidence and thanks. Mayoral Election. Christchurch, Nov. 24. The election of Mayor to-day is causing considerable excitement. The candidates are—Councillors Aaron Ayers and James Gapes. The general opinion is that the former will be elected. Mr Fish in Hot Water. Dunkoix, Nov. 21. H. S. Fish, one of the candidates for the Mayoralty, is so indignant at a placard which appeared yesterday, that lie has placed it in the hands of the police, and offered a reward of £IOO for the discovery of the persons who issued it. The contest is increasing iu bitterness.
