Anew arrival with a broad Hutch accent, lias been running tbe gauntlet of the various Public Institutions. Although only a few weeks in New Zealand, he has had a tour of the hotels,

(he boarding houses, and he is now in (lie hospital where lie promises to remain for some time. On his arrival he put up iu a suburban hotel, pending the discovery of a billet, but bis dreams of Fortune faded as his purse grew light, and with want staring him in the face he longed for “ Zuj'der Zee” back again. Cash ran out, and no work, he packed up, and left his comfortable quarters. Necessity however, is the mother of invention, and he thought of a happy expedient. Ho knew of a boardinghouse which was presided over by a buxom-widow, and being a good-looking Dutchman, he repaired thither. The landlady smiled generously at the new boarder, Mynheer ogled the fair dame at the tea-table, engaged her m conversation afterwards, and on the very next day popped the question. He was accepted, and the marriage followed quickly upon the heels of the engagement. The honeymoon, however, was destined to be very brief. On the day after his wedding the unfortunate Dutchman was taken very ill and he was therefore removed to the Hospital. He is now lying |thcre suffering from consumption. The gods have not been propitious.
