THE HOP BITTERS CONTEST ON THE THAMES.

• [P»v Caiu.k]. London, Nov. 17. Tim International Regatta, for £IOOO worth of prizes, given by the American Hop Bitters Bompany, commences tomorrow on the Thames. Four heats will be rowed, and afterwards the final contest will take place. The following is the drawing : —lst heat : Laycock, Elliott, Hawdon, and Barrier ; 2nd heat: Rile} - , Wallace Ross, Largan, and Fchy; Jrd heat : Smith, Ilosmer, Gibson, and Anderson ; 4th heat: Trickctt, Nicholson, and Clasper. Thu course will be between Putney and Chiswick, a distance of about three miles. Hanlon has been scratched, and will not take part in the regatta. Nov. 18 (Afternoon). The first lour heats of the International Regatta were rowed to-day on the Thames, in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. The following were the results: — Kill ST UK AT. Laycock ... ... ... 1 Hawdon ... ... ••• - SKOOND UK AT. Ross 1 Riley 2 tiiiiui hkat, Hosmer ... .... ... 1 Smith - KOUKTII HKAT. Trickctt ... ... ... 1 Nicholson ... ... ... 2 The defeated oarsmen are Elliott,Barrier, Largan, Fehy, Gibson, Anderson, and Clasper who do not compete further. Two more heats will be pulled tomorrow (Friday), and the linal contest takes place on Saturday.
