Rum Burglars. Wellington, Nov. 17. At the Magistrate’s Court tiiis morning Adam Leitch and a man named Ellison alias Thompson, were charged with burglariously entering the warehouse of Murray Roberts and Co. ami stealing therefrom a quantity of rum. They were remanded for seven days. A Disputed Honorarium, Dunedin, Nov. 17. A petition with over <IOO signatures has been presented to the City" Council recommending the voting of the usual salary to Mayor Walter,but its consideration,has been postponed on a technical ground. It is believed that the council will agree to a small vote. Intercolonial Cricketing-. The replies from the Cricket Associations are so satisfactory that the teams’ agent here has telegraphed to Adelaide for Alexander to come over and make definite arrangements. Subsidies to Xiocal Bodies. Mr Barron has received the following telegram from the treasury ; —“ The subsidies to local bodies will be paid as soon as possible.
