(Per Ringaropma at Russell.) The P. and O. steamer Khedive arrived at Albany at 7. 30. p. m, on Nov. 10. London, Oct. 8. The German press expresses jealousy of England and distrusts Gladstone’s policy, hinting at an alliance between England and Russia. A deputation of Irish landowners waited on the Lord-Lieutenant and Mr Eoistcr yesterday, and stated their views on the condition of the country. Forty members of the Landlords’ Association attended, and a deputation which comprised altogether 101 landowners, representing more than half the property of Ireland, was introduced. Lord Donoghue, who in a long speech urged the . necessity of the Government taking steps to alleviate the present feeling of dread.on the part of the lauded class and repress agitations. The Viceroy said the Cabinet alone bad power in such matters, and referred the deputation to Mr Forster. Mr Forster stated that the Government would do what they could within the law, and if further measures were necessary they would be of an exceptional character. Some of the landlords are having their homes guarded by their own retainers, others are employing persons to protect them. Bombay, Oct. 22. General Primrose’s description of the sortie at Candahar is published, also the Commander-in-Chicf and Viceroys’comments. The Commander-in-Chief considers the results were far too dearly bought, with the loss of so many valuable officers and men.
