[Pee “Times” Special Wire.] The Te Aroha Goldfield. Auckland, Nov. 10. Five specimens from Te Aroha, estimated to yield lOozs. to the pound, arc lodged in town. Charge of Smuggling. ■Wellington, Nov. 10. At the Magistrate’s Court, a charge against the captain and steward of the ship St. Leonards, for being concerned in a recent smuggling case was heard. The steward was fined £25, and the charge against the captain was dismissed. Fatal Railway Accident. Invercargill, Noy. 10. A shearer, named Frank White, was accidentally killed on the Waimca Plains Bail way yesterday. He loaves a wife and two children. Reprieved. A meeting of the constituents of Mr Shanks, member for Matuimi, agreed to postpone asking him to resign, pending
an address which he promised to deliver, Tor a Consideration Dunedin, Nor. 10. A gentleman in town has received a letter from Alexander stating that the Australian team are anxious to visit New Zealand, playing two or three days at each of the principal towns, if suitable terms can be arranged, and their leave has been extended.
