Tlie following is a detailed account of the chief events that were run yesterday Deuiiy Stakes, a sweepstake of *2O govs eacli with 250 so vs added for 3-year-olds: colts Bst 101 b, fillies Bst 51b ; second horse to save his stake. Hon It. Campbell’s b c Sir Modred (S. Harris) 1 Mr Win. C. Webb’s b f Virginia Water (Dcrritt) 2 Mr W. C. Moorhouse’s ch c Badsworth ... ... (Rndings) 3 The Governor, Lure, and Nautilus also ran. Betting—4 to 1 agst Sir Modred, even on Lure, 5 and G to 1 against the rest. The totalisator had 130 subs—22 on the winner, taking £lO 12s each ; outside, 204 subs—3o on the winner taking £G 2s each. Well and easily ridden, Sir Modred was landed by a length, Badsworth being a bad third.

Hornby, Betrayer, Kosciusko, Marie Antoinette, Luna, Sir George, Miss Domett also started. After two breaks away, Betrayer was quickest on his legs, but immediately conceded the lead to Sir George and Luna, who cutting out the work at a merry pace, led past the stand. To these succeeded Mr Fraser’s pair, Betrayer and Lc Loup, the rest in u ruck, with the.exception of the Polish hero, Kosciusko. They ran thus, with rerry few changes, to the back of the course, where Luna was still in charge of affairs, with Betrayer second, and Sir George third. Bounding the last turn the lot closed and raced well together to a quarter of a mile from home, when Le Loup and Piscatorious began to draw away, with Foul Play, who had been gradually coming through his horses, in close attendance, and Betrayer also coming. Fifty yards from home it was quite evident that the finish laj T between Lc Loup and Piscatorious, but the chestnut, running with much determination and honesty, stayed the longest, and won a splendid race by a length from Piscatorious. Foul P ay, who came very fast at the finish, was a fair third, and Betrayer fourth. Time—--3 mins 331 secs. The following are the performances of the winner : At four years—At the Australian Jockey Club Autumn Meeting, carrying Bst 13lb, was second in tlTe Maiden (H miles), won by Petrea ; carrying Bst 131bs, second in Cumberland Stakes (2 miles), won by Chester ; and carrying 9st 31b, second to the same horse in the A.J.O. Plate (3 miles.) At the Victorian E.C. Autumn Meeting, carrying 9st, was second to Monarque in Grand Stand Stakes (!•£ miles) ; and, carrying Bst 31b, ran a dead heat for second place with Tocal and Bob Sawyer in the Newmarket Handicap miles),won by Diomed. *At live years—At the V.11.C. Spring Meeting, carrying 9st 31b, was third in the Melbourne Stakes miles), won by First King ; with 9st olb, second to Swiveller in the Essendon Stakes (2 miles) ; with Bst 41b, unplaced in Mclbourn Cup (2 miles), won by Darriwell : and carrying Bst 7ib, won V.11.C. Handicap of 150 sovs (If miles), beating eight others. At the Canterbury Autumn Meeting, carrying 9st, won the Free Handicap of 50 sovs (I mile), beatingtwo others ; and with 9st, was beaten a head by Mata in the Flying Stakes (f mile). At six years—at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Bst 91b, won the C.J.C. Handicap of 500 sovs (2 miles,) beating nine others.
NAPIER RACES. [By Telegraph.] Napier, Xov. 10. Owing to other attractions the Steeplechase was poorly attended. The following are the results : Haw ices’ Bay Handicap Steeplechase of 125 sovs : 3 miles. Douglas’ Venture, list 121 b ... 1 McAllister’s Eclipse, list 21b ... 2 Won easily. Maiden Steeplechase ; 100 sovs ; 2 miles. Murray’s Pourore. aged, 12st 41b ... 1 Ilopkinson’s Waiuui, (lyrs, 12st 31b... 2 Wanui’s jockey fell and broke his collar, but rode a plucky race to the finish. Napier Steeplechase Cup, 50sovs ; 2 miles. Douglas’ Venture, aged, 12st 31b ... 1 McAllister’s Eclipse, aged, 12st 31b... 2 Pourerc broke his neck at the water jump. The Friendly Societies’ fete on Hastings Racecourse was a great success, taking the full resources of the railway to convey the holiday makers. WAITOTAIIA;RACES. [By Telegraph.] Waverlky, Nov. 10. The race meeting yesterday was largely attended. Waverley Waitotara Guineas, 105 sovs. Scott’s Cauiolia 1 Keith’s Woodpcpkcr 2 Durie Bros. Frivolity 3 Six started. Mouse's Sincerity won cleverly by half a length, but was protested against on the ground of a cross and the protest was sustained. Time—oinins (isccs. Flying Handicap, 40 sovs ; 1 mile. Otawa, Bst lib 1 Redeemer, 7st 121 b 2 Marie Stuart, 7st7lbs... ... ... 3 Six Started. Won by half a length. Time—lmin. 52sec. Maiden Plate ; 40 sots. Scott’s Camclia 1 Chandler ... ... 2 Camelia ... ... 3 Ten started. Won easily. Time—3min. 3sccs, Waverley Handicap ; 225 sovs; 2 miles.
