Mr Champion of Waimate was driving through that township accompanied by his wife and daughter last evening, when a dog attacked his horse’s heels, and caused it to bolt. One of the reins broke, and the horse being pulled on the footpath fell breaking a shaft, upsetting the vehicle, and spilling the party. Mrs Champion had the small bone of her arm broken, but Mr and Miss Champion escaped with a few bruises. An entertainment of a miscellaneous character will be given at the Theatre Eoyal oir the evening of Nov. !), the Prince of Wales’ Birthday, which will doubtless be largely patronised, forming as it will an appropriate wind up after the sports of the Timaru Athletic Club, which take place on Tuesday. The Company at the Theatre in the evening will comprise Mr and Mrs W. B. Hawkins, ofWaimate, Miss Kate Anderson, Mrs Thurlow, Professor Snodgrass (horizontal bar), Mr A. G. Stone, Mr Whitley, and last but by no means least that old Timaru favorite Mr T. J Kennedy.
