Wilbcrforce made the running for a mile, and then Rocket assumed command, with Hailstorm second. Entering the straight, Hailstorm challenged the leader, and gradually wore him down, -winning by a length. Opawa came with a rush at the finish, and beat Rocket for second place by a head. Tliis was a slashing race between lirst and second, both running node and neck the whole way. Hailstorm ran very gamely and won by half a length. Soukar never could get up, and linishcd a bad third.
