TIMARU AIECHANIC’S C. C. v. OAAIARU UNION. This game was commenced to-day on the ground at the Washdyke. The rival teams were driven to the ground, leaving town in two wagonettes shortly before 11 a.m. Oamaru was represented by Alessrs A. Hartly, A. Slater, W. Grajq J. Steel, J. Harris, W. Kidsdale, D. Sinclair,W. J. Aladdern, T. Hcwat, and Afarshall. Emergency—J. Ogilvie, Keith, and Thompson. Timaru —W. Darlow (captain), W. Whitley, J. Whitley, Alf. Williams, Andrew Williams, J. Burgess, AY. W. King, AI. Thornton, R. Snodgrass, Hughes, and R. Love. Emergency—P. Alcßae. Play was commenced by the Oamaru men going first to the wickets. Tha visitors had a tolerably warm reception, although they displayed some good batting, for the Timaru Alechanics were in splendid form, and one after another their opponents were despatched in rapid succession. By 1 o’clock the Oamaru contingent wore all out for 33 runs, and half an hour afterwards the Timaru team had scored 37 runs with the loss of two wickets. The result was a glorious victory for the local team, hut while enthusiastic over their success, they arc brimful of compliments to the defeated. The latter, to-night, will be entertained at a ball and supper.
