SUICIDE AT TEMUKA.
[By TicuxtUAi’ii.] [I'KOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Temuka, Oct. 25. J. B. Glasson, hairdresser of this town, committed suicide last evening about G o’clock, by taking carbolic acid. Deceased had been in a despondent state for the past week, and had been complaining of pleuresy of the heart of late. He was a miner by profession, and held an appointment as mining manager both on the Thames goldfield and Victoria, lie speculated largely and lost some thousands of pounds. Previous to coming to Temuka he has been in business as a commission agent in Wanganui, but he has had a run of bad luck which appeared to prey on his mind, lie arrived in Temuka about five weeks ago and opened a hairdressing establishment, but business was very dull with him as hairdressing was not his forte. An imjuest will be held at four o’clock to-day.
