SPORTING NOTES.
Mr T. George’s colt. Leveller, has been scratched for all his engagements at the forthcoming meeting of the C.J .C. By the steamer Kotomahana there arrived at Lyttelton on Thursday, from Hobart Town, four thoroughbred horses from the Albion Eacing Stud. Albion a celebrated long distance horse ; Calstock, 5 yrs., by Castle Hill, dam a bay Middleton mare; Quamby, 4 yrs., a splendid animal, by Castle Hill, dam Media ; and Brown, a two-year.old colt, by St Albans, just broken. The animals reached port in grand condition. In getting Albion ashore one of his legs came through the box, and was badly hurt. The proprietor, Mr C. G. Eady, of Tasmania, has instructed Messrs H. Matson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs R. Wilkin und Co., to offer the four horses for sale at an early date.
