An interview has taken place here between Mr Berry and Sir Henry Parkes, Premier of New South Wales regarding the border duties, but they failed to come to any any agreement on the subject. The Kelly Drama-Concluding-Acti The trial of Ned Kelly commenced to-day. Superintendent Hare,who was wounded at Glenrowan, and whose condition for some time has been critical, has now rallied and is improving. The trial has been further adjourned to Oct. 28. Destructive Tires. Sydney, Oct. 18. A most destructive fire broke out at
Wagga Wagga at midnight on Friday, and completely destroyed the Masonic Hall and several adjoining buildings. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO, which is fully insured. The lire raged for five hours. Brisbane, Oct. 18. A fire broke out here at 11 p.m. on Saturday in the premises of Bolatn, draper, in Queen street. The flames spread to the adjoining establishment, an ironmonger’s and the lire was only extinguished with great difficulty. The insurances include £BSO in the Eoyal Impeiial, Colonial, and New Zealand Companies, besides £5250 in other offices. Accident .to’a Steamer. Latest advices from Hong Kong state that the steamer Brisbane had to put back, having damaged her steering gear in a heavy gale. Her boats were washed overboard and the decks were completely swept. It is further stated that the necessary repairs will occupy five days.
