A ROW AT ALBURY.

SECOND EDITION

Albury was disturbed last night by (ho conduct of a woman nanio;l Lee, her husband, ami another man. The woman went to get some sugar at Thompson’s store, and it being after hours, Childs, the man in charge, refused to supply her, telling her to wait until the next day, when the store cart would call at her house. The woman left the store, and picking up a stone sent it through a pane of glass valued at os. Childs ran out to remonstrate, and was set upon by the woman's husband and a man mimed C'owie, who as he alleged, assaulted and knocked him down. Finding that things were growing warmer than was pleasant, the storeman ran down the street closely pursued by his two assailants, who to heighten the excitement pelted him with stones as they ran. One of these stones went through Ilinklcy’s stable window, and did damage to the extent of Ids. The storeman then laid an information against the Imcs and their friend Cowic, and the whole party made their appearance before Mr Beetham this afternoon. The woman denied breaking the store window, and alleged that when she asked for some sugar Childs swore at her. Both the male defendants denied the stone throwing, and Cowic said he only interfered because he saw Childs knocking Mrs Lee down Previous convictions were urged against the latter, and His Worship remarked that it was a very unpleasant affair. Mrs Lee would have to pay a fine of ss, and (he men must go to gaol for 7 days apiece. - The men belonged to the unemployed camp at Albury.
