Mr W. Gordon, recently counter-clerk in the Oamarn Telegraph O.'Uce, and now stationed at Mew Plymouth, has received a medal an 1 a certificate of merit from the Sydney International Exhibition for his delineation of the Lord’s Prayer in Maori. Capital progress is being made with the new wharf at the Breakwater. The whole of the piles have been driven, those near the concrete being riveted with strong bars of iron to the vent-holes in the centre of the monolith. The contractor is now awaiting the arrival of timber to proceed with the work of flooring. Superintendent Weldon is at present making a tour of police inspection. The usual Promenade Concert under the auspices of the Timaru Artillery Band, takes place in the Queen’s Hall, to-morrow evening.
