They disposed of 500 merino wethers at 10s 3d, and -100 do at 9s 9d. , Horses—The demand for draught stock is dull at present, and with few good sorts offering. Their entries at their usual Saturdays’ sales have been small, and little business has been done. Messrs William Collins and 'Co. .report holding their regular weekly market and sale by auction of produce and general merchandise on Saturday. The attendance was above the average, and as a result all lines . (with a few exceptions) submitted,to the hammer,- found buyers at satisfactory figures. They quote Derwent and seed potatoes at 80s to 35s per ton, with very little demand at that figure. Growers in the district have been holding for a rise all the season, and they will now find a : difficulty" to move them off at a payable rate; flour, farmers’ £8 millers, £lO, bran, 50s ; sharps, 70s; feed oats, Is Id; fowl wheat, 4s to 5s per sack ; onions, 7s per cwt; hams. 8d per lb ; bacon, inferior, 4d to 5d ; fresh butter, 7-Jd; salted, no demand ; fowls, 3s to 4s per pair ; turkeys, ,3s, to 5s each; geese and ducks, none entered; Hobart Town apples, ex Te Anau, 11s to IBs per case; box teas, ex Menmuir and Killarney 17s to 20s p-r box; Ho. 3 Co. sugar, 41s per cwt; soap, 15s per cwt; saddlery, china, glass, and earthenware, furniture, boots, drapery, and sundries, always command a ready sale, and wore quitted during the day at consignors’ reserves. Land and Houses.—They" had several enquiries for small holdings during the week within the borough ; also, country" lands, unimproved.
