Dr Lemon has received the following cablegrams from the Superintendent of Telegraphs : Port Piric.—The brig Alexandra, from Melbourne, is ashore about 10 miles south of Mount Young. She is making water. Cape Jarvis, 10 p.m.—The Sorata attempted to get a line ashore, but the wind was too strong. The Captain’s idea was to communicate with the shore by sending and receiving telegrams. It is blowing hard from the S.W., and the spray is breaking over the Sorata, but there is nothing to cause any anxiety. The Soup Stunning. Christchurch, Sept. 13. A correspondent of a local paper states that the engine cleaners on the railway arc to be reduced from 7s to 5s 6d per day—about 20 instead of 10 per cent. /a. Valuable Cargo. Included in the cargo of the N.Z. Shipping Company’s ship Mautaura, which sailed to-day for London, are the following 305 bales rabbit skins, 100 bales word, 1245 sacks barley, 6000 sacks oats, 270 sacks oatmeal, 1500 sacks wheat, 22 tanks oatmeal, 13 cases shells, and UieZcalandia Exhibition.
