SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST A MEDICAL MAN.
SECOND EDITION
[By Telegraph.] Temuka, this day. The prosecution of Dr Hayes, of Temuka, on a charge of attempting to procure abortion was commenced before the Temuka bench this afternoon. Among the witnesses for the prosecution and defence wore a large number of medical men, including Drs Hogg, Macintyre, Hammond, Lovegrovo and Murdoch, from Timaru. The informa tion was laid by a female, who was formerly in the employ of Dr Hayes as housekeeper. A good deal of the evidence is utterly unlit for publication. It is expected that the case will hardly be finished tliis evening.
