PROTESTANT ALLIANCE FRIENDLY SOCIETY, VICTORIA LODGE, NO. 58.
The above Lodge held its usual fortnightly meeting on Wednesday, in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Sophia street. The Lodge was duly opened by the Worshipful Master, assisted by the Chaplain. After the usual preliminaries, 36 candidates were initiated. The fact that the Society lias made such a promising commencement, will, no doubt, be hailed by all who sympathise with its aims and objects, with the utmost Satisfaction. It may be stated that the Protestant Alliance is founded on a thoroughly broad and liberal basis. Its primary object is to main religious freedom and toleration, to preserve the Protestant faith from encroachment, and in the second placn to raise its members beyond the reach of vicissitude by providing for their wants in case of illness or misfortune.
