TIMARU AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the above Society took place this" morning at Maclean and Stewart’s Buildings. There was a large attendance of members, Mr William Evans being in the chair. It was resolved that all butter exhibited be in 11b rolls.

Mr C. G. Tripp wrote offering a prize of £5 os for the best gorse hedge cutting machine to be drawn by one horse, provided that the Association would supplement the gift by a similar amount. The offer was declined.

The Chairman announced that the prize medals bad been received from England. It was resolved to add a prize to the list for the best dairy cow of any breed, and it was further resolved that any cow shown in the classes for Ayrshire, shorthorn, or any other breed, be allowed to compete as a best dairy cow. The following list of special or private prizes was then drawn up and adopted:— Licensed Victuallers’ prize, of £5 ss, for the largest scorer in pigs. Licensed Victuallers’ prize, of £5 os, for the largest scorer in Ayrshire cattle and dairy class.

FT.Z.L. and M.A. Company’s prize of £G Gs, for the best yearling, either colt or filly, by Farmer’s Fancy. Messrs Jonas, Hart, and- Wildie’s prize, of £5 os, for the best entire draught horse, owned by a South Canterbury resident. Mr W, Evans’ prize of £5 os, tor the best thoroughbred entire. Messrs P. Archer, W. Evans, and Ford and Co.’s prize of £2l, for largest prize-taker in merinos. ISLZ.L. and M.A. Co.’s prize of £2O, for the largest scorer in long-woolicd sheep. Grocers’ prize of £1 Is, for the largest scorer in butter.

Grocers’ prize of £4 Is, for the largest scorer in cheese.

Grocers’ prize of £-1 -Is, for the largest scorer in bacon.

Messrs Maclean and Stewart’s prize of £5 ss, for the largest prize-taker in draught slock (resident of South Canterbury.) Messrs P. Cunningham and Co.’s prize of £5 ss, for largest aggregate scorer in Agricultural produce. Mr Shappero’s prize of piece of Plate of the value of £3 3s, for largest prizetaker in poultry. Mr John Holland, prize of £3 3s, for (lie largest scorer in points by a farmer farming over 200 and under 400 acres; and £2 2s for largest scorer by farmer farming 200 acres. N.Z.M. and A. Co., prize of £lO 10s for the largest scorer in shorthorn cattle. Butchers’ prize of £lO 10s, for the largest scorer in fat cattle. Drapers’ prize of £l2 12s, to bo increased by the Association to 20 guineas for best draught horse. Messrs G. and J. Young’s prize of £3 10s, for the largest scorer in all classes of dairy produce, hams and bacon included.

Mr Blytt’s prize of plate, of the value of £2, for the best display of 21 bs of fauev butter.

Sportsmen’s prize of a saddle and bridle, value .€l2 12s, i'or the best hunter performing over '6 (lights of hurdles.

The nomination of a number of judges for the various classes terminated the meeting.
