[By Telegraph.] (Per Tararua at the Bluff.) additional items. It is stated that Ford sent a letter to the Commissioner of Railways enquiring why his services were dispensed with. Last night’s “ Age ” published an account of an interview between a reporter and Kelly in Beechworth gaol. It subsequently transpired that the reporter was Mr Gaunson, prisoner’s solicitor. The “ Argus ” published a sub-leader severely commenting on the conduct of Mr Gaunson, which it said was calculated to prejudice the public mind against witnesses for the prosecution. Mr Gaunson writes declaring that the “ Argus ” has rendered itself liable to a criminal information for printing matter calculated to prevent a fair trial. The “ Argus ” thereupon republished its former remarks upon the subject in order to enable Mr Gaunson to move in the mater if he so desires.
