A Pugilistic Bominie. Wellington, August 18. A deputation waited on the Minister of .Justice this morning in reference to the sentence of two months’ hard labor, passed yesterday on Willis, the'school master, for assault. Mr Bryce introduced the deputation, which urged the undue severity of the sentence, and spoke of the previous good character of the defendant. Mr Rollcston replied that ho would take the matter into consideration. The Unemployed. Christchurch, August 18. More of the unemployed have been sent up country to the Railway works to-day. Altogether 1000 have been sent during the winter. Compulsory Education. Invercargill, August 18. The Invercargill School Committee has decided to adopt the compulsory clause. Freezers "Wanted. The Forest Hill Chamber of Agriculture intend to try to obtain vessels with freezing chambers to call at the Bluff.
